The trend for using darker, warmer richer paint colours within the home has increased in popularity in recent years, according to paint and paper company Farrow and Ball.
The above photo is the wall in my kitchen/dining room painted in Hicks Blue by Little Greene Company. It is a bolder darker colour than those traditionally used in domestic homes but I love how it has become a statement backdrop to both friends and family around the table and whatever I have on the walls at that moment.
It's great that people are breaking convention of using more traditional colour palettes, could magnolia be a colour of the past? Some worry that dark bold colours can seem cold but these hues have a cocooning effect whilst adding depth and drama to a room.
Websites such as Pinterest and Houzz help to visualise a colour within a room rather than just a paint colour on a chart, Have a look on my Pinterest board to see more rooms decorated with bold and dark paints. https://uk.pinterest.com/hbakerdesigns/dark-interior-decors/
